The 13-under Newton County All-Star captured the Junior Dixie Boys state title Tuesday with a 23-9 win over West Georgia White in Columbus and will represent Georgia in the Dixie Boys World Series. Newton County won its opening games 10-9 and 10-6 on Saturday and Sunday respectively in the double-elimination tournament.

In 14-under play, the team from Newton County was knocked out of the tournament after a 9-7 loss to West Georgia Purple.

The 13-under team will represent the state at the Junior Dixie Boys World Series is in Seneca, S.C.  Newton County plays Virginia at 1 p.m. July 30.
