Due to continued icy conditions on the roadways, all Newton County Schools will be closed for students tomorrow, Jan. 31, a release from the school system said.

All teachers, school administrators, cafeteria managers, 12-month employees, and all central office employees should report tomorrow at 10 a.m. The only staff who do not have to report are bus drivers and cafeteria staff.

Friday's school day was originally scheduled as an early release day for teacher professional learning. School officials noted that the day will still be used as a day of professional learning.

"We have reports of several secondary roads with dangerous, icy conditions. It's just not worth the risk--one bus accident is one too many," said Sherri Davis-Viniard, NCSS Director of Public Relations.

In Social Circle, school will return to its regular academic schedule Friday.
