NCSO deputy's vehicle catches fire

A Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy patrol vehicle is currently under investigation by the Jasper County Fire Service after it caught fire shortly after 3:30 on Monday.

According to NCSO Sgt. Cortney Morrison the deputy’s wife notice smoke coming from their driveway, and called him out to look. Deputy Wesley Dickerson then noticed fire coming from under the hood of his patrol vehicle and extinguished it with a hose.

According to Morrison, Dickerson reported the vehicle had been parked for a little longer than 15 hours without a key in the ignition.
