47 local youth and 17 adults with the Newton County NAACP gathered at the home of NAACP Youth Advisor Cathelene Perry for the Back 2 School Block Party on July 24. The students participated in dances, ate food prepared by Wendell Williams and Ella King and listened to special presentations by two local pastors.

Pastor Nicholas Curry spoke on obedience and values, and Terry Shepherd spoke on "the five Fs."

"I'd like to thank God for all the people who supported me and the NAACP Youth," Perry said.
