Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office were called to Liberty Middle School after a student told his teacher that his classmate had brought a knife to school.

According to NCSO Lt. Tyrone Oliver, a student noticed that his classmate had what turned out to be a kitchen knife inside an eyeglass case. The student alerted his teacher and the child that brought the knife to class was removed and had the knife confiscated without incident.

According to Oliver another student said that the boy with a knife had brought the blade the day before as well and had threatened to stab him with it, but no altercation ever ensued.
