COVINGTON, Ga. - Newton County Chairman Marcello Banes and Covington Mayor Ronnie Johnston signed off on a proclamation on Tuesday, April 24 declaring May 2018 Older Americans Month.

Banes and Johnston urge every resident to take time during May to recognize older adults and the people who serve them as vital parts of the community.

Officials from both Newton County and the City of Covington will support the initiative to Engage at Every Age during Older Americans Month by participating in a walk from the Newton County Historic Courthouse to the Newton County Senior Services on Friday, May 4. The walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a free lunch at the senior center.
