Mark Twain to visit Newborn Saturday

Though reports of his death are indeed correct, Mark Twain will appear in Newborn at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Old Newborn Schoolhouse, 4326 Ga. Highway 142.

Actor and Twain impersonator Van Brown will be displaying the wit and wisdom of one of America's most celebrated and beloved storytellers.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students and can be purchased in advance online at newbornschoolhouse.org or by calling 404-353-0177. Proceeds will go to benefit the renovation of the schoolhouse.

"The large auditorium room with its stage will be a great setting to see how Mark Twain might have really appeared as he traveled around the country, with his humorous satire, irony and wit," said Newborn resident Linda Williams Woodworth. "Hand-crafted costumes and thoughtful scripts have been well researched to provide an authentic and engaging narrative which will delight both school groups and individuals with this realistic presentation."

The Old Newborn Schoolhouse is part of the Newborn Area Heritage Trust, which seeks to preserve historic buildings and greenspace in the Newborn area of Newton County. The building is available for event rental.
