Mansfield native Cale Davis will be spending his summer in Washington D.C. working with U.S. Rep. Austin Scott (R-Macon).

Davis, a rising senior at the University of Georgia, was selected for a summer agriculture fellowship. He will assist Scott's office by attending agriculture committee hearings with the congressman, meeting with Georgia farm groups and developing an agricultural profile of the 8th district, which runs from Newton County south through the heart of Georgia to Moultrie.

"Congressional fellowships offer students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to delve into the inner workings of our legislative process and develop a greater understanding of the important work we do on behalf of the people," Scott said in a press release.

Davis is pursuing a bachelor's degree in agribusiness and currently serves as president of his school's agriculture and environmental economics club, secretary of the Ag Hill Council and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

After graduation, Davis hopes to pursue a master's degree in business administration. He is the son of Britt and Terri Davis, who live in Mansfield.
