The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible homicide after finding a man’s body on Lower River Road Sunday morning, according to Sgt. Michael Cunningham.

Upon being dispatched to a possible cardiac arrest, the NCSO discovered an unconscious male on the side of Lower River Road in Covington around 7 a.m Sunday. According to the NCSO, the male is believed to be Hispanic and in his late 40’s.

The victim was last seen leaving from work around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night and was shot multiple times, the NCSO said.

The NCSO is currently investigating the victim’s death and is in search of his vehicle, which is described as a black 1999 Ford Expedition with the license number AWW4152 and vehicle identification number 1FMPU18L1XLC05354.
