Local industry gets television spotlight

Newton County industry NyloBoard’s environmentally-friendly building product is garnering some national TV attention.

NyloDeck, a decking material made out of recycled carpet fiber, was shown recently on the DIY (Do it Yourself) Network’s TV show “Yardcore” and is set to appear Sunday on A&E’s “Flipping Boston.” Both shows are home maintenance and repair reality shows.

Douglas Morse, NyloBoard’s president and chief operation officer, said the company is proud of its inclusion on two separate TV shows.

DIY called NyloBoard, choosing them over other companies because of the innovative design and quality of NyloDeck, Morse said.

NyloDeck doesn’t contain any wood or PVC and is impervious to moisture, mold, mildew and termites, according to the company’s website. The boards are produced at the Covington plant on Industrial Park Boulevard using recycled carpet combined with proprietary resins and an e-glass fabric and are given a UV protectant.

The company’s website said the product is good for decks, docks, stairs and benches.
