Social Circle resident Theo Ramaker has his eyes focused skyward. He’s an astrophotographer and he’s set to share some of his images at an event set for Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Visitors Center off Ga. Highway 11 south of Mansfield. Ramaker will share his images including photos of deep sky nebula and galaxies, planets and the sun, and of natural and man-made satellites at the Charlie Elliott chapter Astronomy Club meeting. At 3 p.m. on Feb. 5, he will discuss unusual celestial objects and events and will share tips on how to take your own images of astronomical objects. That night, the club will present "Current Events in Astronomy & Space Exploration" and "Observing 101" with graphics and other visuals of coming celestial events, including sky locations of currently visible planets, comets and other sky phenomena. An evening of celestial observation will follow, weather permitting. You can either bring your own telescope or view through the telescopes of club members. The astronomy club meets monthly at the wildlife visitors center, 543 Elliott Trail in Mansfield, about 10 miles south of I-20 Exit 98. Learn more at http://ceastronomy.org/blog/home.
