Anthony Johnston is Alcovy High School’s 2016 Valedictorian and Baylee Friedman is the school’s Salutatorian, leading the top 10 graduates of this year’s class.
“It is a great honor to know that I am graduating as the class Valedictorian,” Johnston said. “I have made sure to put my education first in my life, since I know that it is laying the foundation for the rest of my life. I have also strived and pushed myself towards excellence, and it is a huge relief to know that all of my hard work over these past four years has finally paid off.”
Johnston has plans to attend the University of Southern California and will be majoring in their joint Computer Engineering and Business Administration Degree Program at the Viterbi School of Engineering.
“By pursuing such a degree,” Johnston said, “I will hopefully satisfy the education requirements needed in order to be a Project Manager or higher at any tech company. I would love to work for a major company such as Apple, Google, NASA, SpaceX, Tesla or Disney Imagineering. “
Friedman will be attending Georgia Tech in the fall. She plans on majoring in International Affairs.
“Knowing that I am at the top of my graduating class is extremely rewarding,” Johnston said. “School has always been the most important thing to me, and I have always set the goal for myself to be at the top of my class, so I am very excited.”
The top ten graduates of Alcovy High School are: Elysia Baker, Allison Ballew, Aleea Bishop, Naomi Carter-Thomas, Baylee Friedman (Salutatorian), Ailiyah Goode, Tierra Hodges, Anthony Johnston (Valedictorian), Hannah Maddux and Acacia Nicholson.
