Authorities from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the two men who allegedly robbed and shot a homeless man on Usher Lane, off Bethany Road, early Friday morning.

Reports from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office show that when officers arrived at a home on Usher Lane they found the victim laying just inside the front door of the residence wearing only his underwear.

When they questioned the man, he allegedly told deputies that he was homeless and had been walking on Usher Road looking for somewhere to sleep when two men exited a maroon vehicle and attempted to rob him. He told deputies that was when he was shot, and he ran to the home where they found him looking for assistance.

The home’s occupants told deputies they had been sleeping when they heard someone banging on the door. When they opened it they found the homeless man who told them he had been shot.
