A Conyers driver who struck a Covington woman and a 2-year-old and then tried to flee the scene was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Juan Gabriel Espinoza, 41, of Conyers was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado in the Lakeview Estates neighborhood Sunday night, according to a Georgia State Patrol spokesperson.

Around 8:44 p.m., Espinoza reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign on Manatee Drive and Frontier Drive.

Espinoza was booked into the Rockdale County jail charged with two counts of driving under the influence, two counts of hit and run resulting in serious injury and failure to maintain lane.
