Hard Labor Creek Park offers programs

The following programs are scheduled at Hard Labor Creek State Park:

"Intro to Mountain Biking" – June 15 and June 29, 9 a.m. to noon.

Learn the basics of mountain biking and bike maintenance, and take a ride on the park’s new beginners trails. Meet at the Park Office/Trading Post. For more information, call 706-557-3001. There is a $5 program fee (includes the bike trail fee), and $5 parking. Participants must bring their own bikes.

"Father’s Day" Hike – June 16, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

For a fun, family outing, meet at the Park Office/Trading Post. For more information, call 706-557-3001. There is a $5 program fee, and parking costs $5.

"Father’s Day" Paddle – June 16, 1 to 3 p.m.

Participants will take a beautiful kayak tour on Lake Rutledge and learn the basics of kayak strokes, types of kayaks, and the proper gear. There is a $15 program fee, and parking costs $5.

"Full Moon Kayak Tour – June 22, 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

This guided tour of Lake Rutledge will be a peaceful paddle under a bright moon. Participants will listen to night sounds, enjoy the night sky, and learn about the history of Hard Labor Creek State Park. Space is limited; pre-registration is required. The fee is $15 per person and $5 per vehicle for parking. Meet at the Park Office/Trading Post.

Hard Labor Creek State Park is located at 5 Hard Labor Creek Road, Rutledge.

To get to the park, take I-20, exit 105 into Rutledge and proceed 3 miles on Fairplay Road.
