This past weekend, George Walton Academy’s Marching Bulldog Band won first place in the 6 Open Division at the United States Scholastic Band Association Championship held in Chattanooga, Tenn. and finished 1st out of 25 bands from around the Southeast to become the overall Southern States Champion.   George Walton Academy is the first private school to win the championship.

With an overall score of 93.525 and first place awards in percussion, music and effect, the Marching Bulldogs ended their competition season with top honors.  In addition, the George Walton Band was awarded the Marine Corps Esprit de Corps award to the band for best exemplifying the United States Marine Corps traits of pride, professionalism and patriotism.
