Georgia Piedmont Technical College has completed the 10-year review by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for reaffirmation of its accreditation.

Years of preparation culminated in an on-site review by a team of visiting academic professionals from the southeastern region of the country.

During the three day visit the reaffirmation committee meticulously combed through every aspect of the college's operations to determine the College's compliance with the Core Requirements, Comprehensive Standards, Federal Requirements, and the Quality Enhancement Plan of the college's accreditation process by the Commission on Colleges.

Thursday's exit interview brought welcomed news to GPTC's administration and core review planning team. The 10-member reaffirmation committee found the college in compliance with all aspects of college accreditation standards. There were no findings or recommendations for improvement.

Dr. Mark V. Smith, Vice President of the Commission on Colleges said GPTC was exemplary. "I've been doing this since the mid-1980's. I've never left a college reaffirmation visit without any recommendations," said Smith.

This review comes after 13 questions were cited by the Off-site Team earlier this year where compliance with standards were in question.

Response to these 13 items was provided by the College in a Focused Report to which the On-Site Committee determined compliance with all standards.
