Local resident Chris Ogden recently was diagnosed with leukemia, and his friends and family are sponsoring the Chris Ogden BBQ Fundraiser to lend their support.

The event is planned from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Marks Family Pavilion, 500 Marks Road, Mansfield.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and will include a dinner plate of barbecue, baked beans, coleslaw and bread for $8 or a Boston butt for $40.

Plates will be available for dine-in or carry-out. Drinks and baked goods also will be available.

Entertainment will be provided by "The Voice" contestant and Loganville native Jordan Rager, as well as Ashley Walden, another local musician.

Other activities will include raffles and Cornhole tournaments.

"Most items have been donated, so we hope to be able to give most of the money directly to the family," said Kristen Childers, an event coordinator.

Tickets can be purchaed from Childers at Ludie’s Est near downtown Covington or by calling 678-449-6233. All tickets must be purchased before Aug. 5. More details can be found on the Facebook page titled "First Annual Chris Ogden BBQ Fundraiser."
