ATLANTA - An engine problem caused a Delta flight bound for Los Angeles to returned to Atlanta shortly after taking off.

Delta spokeswoman Chris Kelly Singley says the flight with 174 passengers aboard landed safely early Tuesday and emergency vehicles assisted once the Boeing 757 was on the ground.

Kelly Singley says three passengers suffered minor injuries, believed to have happened while they were going down the plane's evacuation slides.

Passengers have been given the option of either spending the night in a hotel or getting on another flight.
