The search for a suspect who fled a traffic stop Monday suspect temporarily shut down Olde Town on Monday.

Conyers police pulled over an older model gold sedan on a routine traffic stop a little after 1 p.m. next to the courthouse on Milstead Avenue - just outside Judge David Irwin's office.

The suspect immediately fled on foot and police pursued but lost contact in Carter Alley.

Witnesses reported seeing him in the woods behind Michaelangelo's, then behind the library. A perimeter was set up and police used a K9 to attempt to track the suspect, but the suspect was able to escape. The perimeter was called off about a half hour later.

The man was described as a dark-skinned black male wearing dark jeans and a red shirt.
