A flood watch is in effect for Newton and surrounding counties through Friday evening and a flash flood warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, some locations will experience flooding, including Covington, Conyers and other nearby cities, due to a line of thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area, with up to three inches having already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are possible.
