The Federal Bureau of Investigations served search warrants at Monroe-based Angel Food Ministries Wednesday morning.

Agents served the search warrant around 9 a.m. regarding "an individual or individuals" and not the operation, according to Juda Engelmayer, senior vice president of communications. He said that Angel Food was cooperating with agents and had a "negotiated agreement" where the agents copied electronic data and records.

He emphasized the ministry was still up and running. "Food is being sent," he said. "We're taking orders and continuing to take orders."

Angel Food Ministries was founded in 1994 and is headed by Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo. The non-profit provides boxes of fresh, frozen and packaged groceries at below-market costs to ministries, churches and non-profits across the nation, including some in Newton County and Walton County.
