The execution date for convicted murdered Melbert Ray Ford has been rescheduled for June 9 at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson.

The execution of Ford was originally scheduled to take place in February, but Ford was granted a stay due to a vacancy on the board of pardons and paroles.

Ford was sentenced to death in 1986 for the murder of his former girlfriend and her niece. If executed, he will be the 24th inmate put to death by lethal injection in Georgia.
