SPC. Sam Walley, an Auburn, Ga., serviceman who lost an arm and a leg to an IED explosion in June, is making his first visit home, and special escort is planned for him when he returns to Georgia Thursday.

A caravan will meet him in Augusta, and the group will be escorted by law enforcement all the way from the Georgia state line. The Barrow County Sheriff's Office will escort the motorcade from Ga. Highway 11 at I-20 on to Walley's home.

The Newton County Fire Department will have a truck in place with ladder raised to salute Walley near the GA Hwy 11 bridge over I-20 at Exit 98.

Citizens are encouraged to line Ga. Highway 11 in Social Circle at 2:30 p.m. Thursday to greet the motorcade and honor the wounded warrior.
