Newton County Theme School’s new dance team has been making strides in its first season. The dancers’ season started in August as they learned choreography and trained with their coach Jessica Tamburro, a sixth-grade science teacher at NCTS. Ten students were selected for the team, and the girls prepared a hip-hop and a pom routine for their first competition in January. The dance team competed at the University of Georgia’s Red Hotz Dance Team Invitational, bringing home first place in pom and second place in hip-hop.
