At least one suspect is in cusody and deputies are still searching for the other armed robbery suspects that allegedly hit the Taco Bell on Ga. Highway 278 last night and led officers in chase through Newton and Rockdale counties.

According to Rockdale County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Sgt. Jodi Shupe, three men robbed the Taco Bell around 9:30 p.m. last night and then fled by vehicle on to I-20, towards Atlanta, with officers and deputies in pursuit. The suspects reportedly shot at Newton County deputies during the chase on the highway, said Shupe.

The suspects then got off the interstate on the Ga. Highway 138 exit, crashed at the intersection of Hi Roc Road.

"The suspects jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the wooded area," said Shupe. "We set up a perimeter. From that point until the morning hours, we kept that perimeter in check, until apparently they flushed one of them out."

Residents of the neighborhoods within the perimeter said K-9 units and helicopters were out during the manhunt.

Shupe said no one was seriously injured in the chase and search.

The name of the suspect arrested was not immediately available, but he will be charged in Rockdale with fleeing and attempting to elude, said Shupe.

The charges from Covington were not immediately available.
