A Newton County Sheriff's deputy responded Sunday to a call about an animal problem at a residence on Highway 212.
Upon arrival, the officer learned that a coyote had jumped through an open window into the kitchen trying to catch a cat, and the animal would not come out.
Animal control was called and eventually able to catch the coyote, which was dispatched with a single shot. Animal control will be testing the coyote for rabies, as per protocol.
