Alexander Quinlan, a student at the Montessori School of Covington, has been accepted into the People to People World Leadership Forum.

Alexander will join a select group of students in Washington, D.C., next week to study leadership and explore the city's monuments and institutions. Stops will include Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian Institution, Mount Vernon and the National Museum of American History, according to a release.

Alexander will examine characteristics of American leadership during times of national challenge and prosperity. Forum delegates will also participate in discussions and exercises to experience firsthand how successful leaders develop strategies, make decisions, build consensus, and foster change.

Delegates will meet Mary Jean Eisenhower, granddaughter of Dwight D. Eisenhower and president and CEO of People to People and hear from former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleisher. They will take part in a service project honoring the heroes that protect the president and us.

Alexander was accepted for the honor based on outstanding scholastic merit, civic involvement, and leadership potential.

The program is coordinated by People to People Leadership Programs to fulfill the vision President Dwight D. Eisenhower had for fostering world citizenship when he founded People to People International during his presidency in 1956. Learn more at www.peopletopeople.com/leadership
