COVINGTON, Ga. – Newton County Fire Rescue recruits got their first taste of what it could be like in a real fire Wednesday morning as veteran firefighters led them through live fire drills at the academy on Piper Road. Over the next two days, the recruits will learn about fire behavior in live settings and practice attacking fires above and below ground level.
