Cousins Middle School’s chorus and its cheerleaders recently attended and performed at an Atlanta Hawks game.
The CMS chorus sang during the pre-game show at a Hawks vs. Indiana Pacers game in February at Philips Arena. Leila Elkins, CMS choral director and Fine Arts department chair, said chorus students performed the National Anthem and a halftime prime-time show for the Hawks in the past with the CMS cheerleaders, and said the school was invited back to perform this year.
Chorus students had a warm-up in the tunnel and then had a behind-the-scenes performing experience, taking instructions from producers, cameramen, and Atlanta Hawks public relations spokesperson Carder Berry. CMS cheerleaders had the opportunity to practice with Atlanta Hawks cheerleaders.
