Porterdale to host tax increase public hearing

The City of Porterdale has tentatively adopted a millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes of 31.87%.

All concerned citizens are invited to one or both of two public hearings on this tax increase to be held at Porterdale City Hall, 2400 Main Street, Porterdale, GA, 30070 on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 6:15 p.m. and Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 6:15 p.m.

A third and final hearing on this tax increase will be at City Hall, 2400 Main Street, Porterdale, GA, 30070 on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at 6:15 p.m. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 17.91 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate would be no more than 13.582 mills.

The proposed annual tax increase for a home with a fair market value of 25,000 and a homestead exemption is approximately $0.00. The increase for a property valued at $25,000 without a homestead exemption is approximately $43.28.
