Graffiti vandals still sought

The Porterdale Police Department wants to addreserve police officers to supplement its uniformed patrolmen.

The unpaid positions are usually filled by police academy trained young people looking to get some experience, or by retired officers looking to keep their certification, Porterdale Police Chief Geoffrey Jacobs said Thursday.

Reserve officers are responsible for purchasing their own uniforms and most already have their own equipment. Since they are unpaid and receive no benefits, the city has no limits to how many additions it is willing to make.

Applications can be found on the Porterdale Police Department website, http://www.cityofporterdale.com/jobs/ApplicationPPD.pdf.

Also, Porterdale police are still seeking tips regarding who sprayed graffiti all over town. The reward for information has been raised to $300.

Jacobs says he doesn't believe the graffiti to be gang-related, but simply several copy-cat vandals.

Anyone with information should call the department at (770) 786-2226 or e-mail thoward@cityofporterdale.com.
