Dozens of floats passed through downtown Porterdale on Friday night in celebration of the Christmas season. After the Newton High School marching band had passed, and after all the elected officials had walked or rode down the street, Santa Claus himself finished the parade by parking across from the old Mill, where with a clap of his hands, he brought the Porterdale Christmas Tree to life.Hot chocolate was served, and face paintings were given to the crowds.
