Limb falls on powerline in Oxford

OXFORD, Ga. – Traffic was slowed on Emory Street Tuesday afternoon as crews removed a tree limb from a powerline.

Utilities Department Superintendent Jody Reed said crews were initially dispatched to a report of a transformer on fire but arrived on the scene and found the limb burning on the line. Crews removed the limb.

Oxford police directed traffic around the work while the northbound lane of Emory Street was blocked by the bucket truck. The road was opened by 2:30 p.m.
