Eighteen members recently graduated from the 2024 Covington Police Citizens Academy, which marked the 15th session.
The six-week course period included a morning at the Covington Police Department’s (CPD) gun range, the “opportunity” to be tased,” interactions with patrol, the Criminal Investigative Division and the Emergency Services Unit.
During the April 15 city of Covington council meeting, the graduating members were presented with graduation certificates. Citizens Academy instructor Captain Gene Nuqui, assistant chief Brent Fuesting and chief of police Philip Bradford made the presentations.
“Our department would like to thank all of our Citizens Academy Board members who assisted us throughout the spring course and at the graduation,” a CPD Facebook post read. “We also appreciate everyone who signed up for the 15th session of our Citizens Academy.”
For those interested and missed the chance to be a part of the Citizens Academy this spring, applications will open later this year to be a part of the fall session.
