Atlanta East Aviation provides a great place to spend a day of fun for interested amateurs and casual sightseers, as well as experienced pilots. Anyone can come to Covington Municipal Airport and enjoy a scenic flyover of Newton County or get behind the controls and fly a plane themselves.

AEA is the fixed-base operator at the Covington airport and offers a variety of services for all levels of aviators. AEA houses the houses the Atlanta East Flight Center, which offers lessons for pilots of any skill level, starting with a Discover Flight for only $99.

For those who want to pursue a career or hobby in flying, the flight school has a 60-hour Private Pilot Course for $6,510, which is 15 hours and around $2,000 less than other schools.

For those advanced and commercial pilots AEA offers several services including hangars and tie-downs, fueling stations, maintenance and planes for rent and sale. AEA also has a full set of amenities including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, a reception area, conference room, weather room, pilots lounge, sleeping room, dining room, showers and office units.

AEA also houses Atlanta-Southeast Air Service which offers charter flights.

The airport will be upgraded in the near future; the runway and taxiway will be rehabilitated and the apron will be repaved. Because of the construction the airport will be largely closed down for two months beginning in later July or early August.
