Kroger is joining forces with the United Service Organization (USO) from June 25 – July 8 to “Round Up” support for American troops and their families by giving customers the opportunity to round up their store purchases to the nearest dollar.

For example, a customer who purchases $99.02 of groceries is urged to “Round Up” his bill to $100 by donating 98 cents. With the goal of raising $250,000, “Round Up” funds will quickly add up to make a world of difference in the lives of our military heroes.

More than two million U.S. troops are active duty or are in the reserves today, including some of our own associates. Kroger has also partnered with the USO through “Honoring Our Heroes,” a multi-faceted program designed to show Kroger’s deep gratitude to our active duty troops, military families, troops transitioning into civilian life and our nation's veterans.

“As we enter the 7th year of ‘rounding up’, we are more excited than ever to partner with the USO to honor our troops,” says Felix Turner, public relations manager for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “This Round Up is continuously a success, and it is a huge thanks to the Atlanta Division’s associates and customers for showing an endless amount of support to our heroes.”

Established in 1941, the USO – a nonprofit, congressionally chartered organization – supports American troops in combat, as well as military personnel on local bases, the National Guard, Guard Reserves and other personnel providing humanitarian aid.

Since 2011, Kroger customers in the Atlanta Division have raised more than $1.5 million through the grocer’s annual “Round-Up” and “Honoring Our Heroes” campaigns in support of the USO.

Customers can visit HonoringOurHeroes.com to become inspired by Kroger’s own associates’ stories of courage, then write a special message to America’s heroes. By posting on social media channels using the #HonoringOurHeroes hashtag, the message will automatically appear on the official website.
