Liz Allgood, a 1998 graduate of the Business Office Technology diploma program at DeKalb Tech, knew that her employer C. R. Bard Inc. through their foundation supported higher education and highly skilled employees.
"Liz was instrumental in helping us to obtain this grant from Bard‘s corporate foundation," said Mary Russell program instructor and adviser for Ms. Allgood's class.
Updated curricula are designed to satisfy increasing demands for skilled administrative assistants. The equipment provided through this grant specifically supports curriculum upgrades that lead to improvements in students' business English and oral communication skills, presentation and visual communication skills, and desktop publishing and technology skills.
"The tools and equipment provided through this grant, including a digital camera, camcorder, scanner, DVD player and recorders and colored printer, will enable students to learn better communications skills as well as desktop publishing and electronic communications that reflect up-to-date industry quality standards and the demands of today's workplace," said DeKalb Technical College President Dr. Robin Hoffman. "We appreciate the support of C. R. Bard, Inc."
