Church St. Antiques closing, restaurant coming
antique-store-1

Church Street Antiques will be closing its doors on March 7.

The antique furniture store, which has been on the Covington Square, for eight years will make way for a restaurant with retail space. The restaurant has not yet been announced, yet to be announced.

According to Kharmin Beam, a manager at Church Street Antiques, the building was recently put under contract for sale, despite not being listed. The landlord Floyd Pace Street LLC. was approached with a purchase offer that was too good to turn down.

Beam said a group of people associated with the store are currently searching for a new location, however nothing has come up yet. The store is comprised of vendors from locations such as Newton, Walton and Morgan counties.

“It’s been great for the community,” Beam said. “It’s a social place, as well as a buying place.”

A closing sale will begin Feb. 9, storewide.

“We want to thank the community for supporting them while they were here,” Beam said. “They enjoyed being on the square.”
