Business Womens Association announces scholarship

A college scholarship up to $1,500 will be funded by the New-Roc Charter Chapter 1411 of the American Business Women's Association through the Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund.

Scholarship candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A Newton or Rockdale County resident

- A junior class standing or higher at an accredited college or university in August 2011

- Will be attending an accredited college or university seeking a baccalaureate degree or higher

- Must have achieved a grade point average GPA or 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Applications are due to New-Roc Charter Chapter or the American Business Women's Association by March 1. The winner will be notified and asked to attend a chapter meeting. A check will be issued made payable to the educational institution. Funds are limited to tuition, books and fees.

The New-Roc Charter Chapter of ABWA is part of a national network of businesswomen that provides business skills training and networking opportunities for women of diverse occupations to enhance career advancement and personal development.
