Your dining options expand on Thursday with the opening of Burrito Loco at 4139 U.S. Highway 278.

The restaurant features Mexican fare including quesadillas, tacos, burritos and fish tacos.

It’s owned by Chris and Stephanie Johnson, former owners of the Mad Cactus in Conyers. They closed the Rockdale County location last week and moved the staff to the Covington restaurant.

"We’re very proud to support Newton County," she said.

The 90-seat restaurant in the former Luigi’s location will also offer healthful fare including brown rice, whole-wheat tortillas and two types of tofu. Fish tacos will feature tilapia topped with fresh jalapeno tartar sauce.

"We make everything fresh every day," Stephanie Johnson said.

The restaurant will offer an array of domestic and imported bottled beer and frozen margaritas. Soccer and other sports will be screened on three high-definition televisions.

Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
