After six years of providing burritos, tacos, fajitas, chips, salsa, sodas and beers to the hungry Newton County citizens, the owners of Burrito Loco on Highway 278 in Covington have announced they are calling it quits. March 12 will be their last day.

“It’s time to take a break,” Co-owner Stephanie Johnson said.

Johnson said she and her husband Chris live in Covington, and they plan to remain active in the community.

Burrito Loco was born in Conyers 11 years ago as the Mad Cactus.  The taqueria relocated to its Covington location six years ago.

A full-service Mexican restaurant, Tello’s, is scheduled to open in the vacated Burrito Loco space this summer.
