The Newton County Board of Commissioners approved Senate Bill 423 in a special called meeting Monday night. The board's decision paved the way for Newton County's charter to be signed by Governor Nathan Deal. The legislation passed through the State Senate on March 11 and through the State House with substitutions on March 16.
