Main Street Covington and BB&T are asking for donations to serve Georgia National Guard’s 48th Brigade Company B 1/121st Infantry, whose members are currently stationed in Afghanistan, a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.

Donations can be made at any BB&T branch in Newton, Rockdale and Walton counties or at Main Street Covington’s office at 2104 Washington Street.

When Company B deployed several individuals, businesses and organizations in Newton County and surrounding communities made a commitment to support the soldiers and their families during their time overseas. This commitment is called Operation Patriots’ Call and helps families with everything from babysitting to yard work to moving.

Donations for the Thanksgiving dinner must be received quickly because the meal must be shipped by Nov. 12.

Also, Main Street volunteers are planning a luncheon for the troops’ families after the Covington/Newton Christmas Parade on Dec. 5. Main Street will accept donations for the luncheon.

For more information or to donate, call the Main Street Covington office at (770) 385-2077.
