Eighth Congressional District Rep-elect Austin Scott has been appointed to the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Agriculture.

"These appointments will allow me to better represent my constituents in the 112th Congress," Scott said in a release.

"Serving on the House Committee on Agriculture will position me to serve as a strong advocate for the thousands of farmers and others working in the agriculture industry throughout the Eighth District and across Georgia."

The Republican from Ashburn won the seat in November, besting incumbent Democrat Jim Marshall.
