ATLANTA - Atlanta police say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle near a MARTA rail station.

Police spokesman Curtis Davenport says officers responded to the accident near the Bankhead MARTA station Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the pedestrian was transported to Atlanta Medical Center and later died. They say an investigation shows the pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was struck by a vehicle after stepping out into the roadway.

Police say no charges have been filed against the driver.
