A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a rash of auto break-ins in southern Newton County from mid-July through early August.
Justin Vaughn James is charged with 18 counts of second-degree burglary in connection with 18 auto break-ins.
Victims and witnesses helped to identify the suspect, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. One victim was able to get a license tag number from a vehicle seen leaving the scene.
Investigators are awaiting results from DNA tests on blood collected from crime scenes. The method of entry was always forced through the passenger or driver’s side window, and only items within reach were taken, authorities said.
