American Legion to honor fallen

The American Legion Post 32 will host its annual Memorial Day event on the square at 10 a.m. on Monday.

The names of those who were killed from Newton County in past wars will be read aloud. A speech will be given and a wreath will be placed in their honor.

American Legion adjutant Roger Tingler said it was important for the legion and the county's citizens to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty serving their country.

"We want to never forget those killed in all the wars, especially those in Newton County," Tingler said.
