A beautiful day for a Kiwanis picnic

The Kiwanis Club of Covington held its annual interclub picnic at Turner Lake Park Saturday to bring together members from the adult, college, high school and middle school clubs in Newton County. One of the Kiwanis Club’s newest efforts has been extending the Kiwanis mission — its motto is “Serving the Children of the World” — to local middle schools, including forming new Builders Clubs for the Newton County Theme Club at Fiquett and Covington Academy.

Dozens of members from the Kiwanis Club, Oxford College Circle K, Alcovy, Eastside and Newton high school Key Clubs and the Theme School Builders Club enjoyed food, entertainment and conversation. Kiwanis, and its member clubs, are service-based organizations that work on local community projects.
