BETHLEHEM, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in northeast Georgia say a 33-year-old Bethlehem man is accused of killing his mother-in-law Monday afternoon, then shooting himself to death.
Barrow County sheriff's deputies say they were dispatched to a home in Bethlehem shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday after Jennifer Muriu called law enforcement officials. She said her husband, Ian Muriu, had fired a weapon inside their home. She had fled to a neighbor's house and informed responding deputies that her mother was still inside the house.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports that deputies surrounded the house. After attempts to contact someone inside were unsuccessful, they entered the house and found 66-year-old Diana Freeman dead of gunshot wounds. Officials said Ian Muriu was also found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
